Introducing Myself

Hey all! Just introducing myself here. I'm new to the whole live plant thing but not to aquariums in general although I'm sure I don't know as much as most of you. I have had my new tank setup for about 6 weeks now. Cycling went quickly(~3 weeks) because a few gallons of water and some decorations(these were temporary to help with the cycle) went into the tank from an established (about a year) 15G Long tank.

I registered for 2 reasons. 1) To thank you all for the great information on this site. I could not have setup a planted tank without reading here. and 2) to purchase one of Blacksunshine's CO2 drop checkers.

My new tank is a 40G Long. It is planted with 3.5wpg and pressurized CO2. Using Flourite as a substrate. The plants are doing well but the tank looks a little sparse since it is still not grown in. I know my aquascaping skills are not great, but this is how my tank looks as of a week ago. It is a bit hard to tell what is the backround and what is real plant/driftwood but it is the best picture I can get with a compact camera.

Plants are: Microsword, Anubias Nana, Java Fern Lace, Red Wendtii Crypt(Although its green in color, but slowly showing more prominent red), Anacharis, and Diandra.

Current Fish: Neon Tetras, Zebra Danios, Guppies, Corys, Ottos, and an Upsidedown Catfish(I think. The petstore told me it was a Raphael but from what I can tell it looks like an Upsidedown Cat).

Welcome to The Planted Tank, hope you have a good time here!
Your tank looks nice, but I think you should buy a little more plants to help with the grow in. I think most, except for a few, are slow growers too, so it might take a while to get set up.
And I'm so jealous xD
You already have a higher tech tank than mine, lol.

Hey! Just a couple of months ago I had a 40 long set up very similar to yours. It looks like you are off to a pretty good start.

Make sure you are dosing both macro and micro ferts as there will be a faster up take with the light and CO2 you are running.

I would also pick up some fast growers to fill in the tank a bit. You can get rid of them later on but it will help with the start up.

Another 40gL tank... hope yours does well. That was my first tank, but I never really tried planting it. Good luck man, and stick around and soak up some info on the forums!
