White worms!

Recently added plants in my tank, lots of them melted so there has been lots of debris all over the gravel, I cleaned out the filter tubing today and when I turned it back on lots of worms flew out the outflow pipe, what are these? Did they come on the plants like some snails unfortunately did? They are white, about 1cm long and only as thick as hair, not very active but they do wriggle a little bit like a bloodworms movement. Are they harm full and how do I get rid of them? Thanks

Sound more like nematodes, which are 100% cool. Food for fishies.

They are from the plant waste or overfeeding clean your gravel/ sand good along with a water change apparently they are somewhat common, I have some in a new tank I'm cycling , did freak me out at first.

Could be detritus worms which are not harmful. If you want them gone to could dose safeguard and kill them. Or clean up your tank a little.

Thanks for the replies, I can defiantly rule out planeria as I have googled them and it doesn't look anything like them, I can't see them any more anyway, so they have either been eaten or are on the plants somewhere. As long as they are not harmful I'm not bothered by them, like it was said its free food!
