Driftwood problem

So I got a nice driftwood stump and cleaned it up really good, then I boiled it. Well when I dumped the water I boiled it with it was really dark brown, almost black. I noticed that the stump was really heavy, and there is still alot of color in the heart wood. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it going to take a lot of boiling to get it clean?

What ype of wood is it? Make sure you know what wood you're working with because some has a lot of saps that will be a pain to come off. Instead o boiling, you can just soak it in water untill it stops turning your water black then boil it. GL

Not to sure on the type of wood, I got it on ebay, I am guessing it has a lot of sap. I have been boiling it all day and it still is turning the water a deep brown color. I am trying to get it out as soon as possible because I would like to use it, but I am thinking it might be a better idea to let it soak for a long time and just buy another piece that is more cured. It must not have been in water very long, because the outside looks like drift wood, but it is really heavy and the heartwood is still really fresh.

Add some Purigen to your filters. It will absorb all the tannins in a few days. Then you can recharge it and keep your water crystal clear.
