Petco deal

FYI Petco has a current promotion online $30 off and free shipping on orders of $100 plus. Pretty good deal if you need equipment for a new tank. I didn't need any aquarium stuff but I did order some flea meds and grooming supplies.

I got a hydor inline heater.......thermostat broke after 8 months and cooked my fish at a nice 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Hydor offered to replace it. I didn't take it offer and fired the old jšger heater up. Has never had a problem in 6 years

Not sure. What I do know is it's made mostly of plastic, it's very very light and it just feels crappy. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had that happen. If you want a heater I'd say get an Eheim. I've never used another heater that's been so reliable and so accurate

Does Eheim make an inline?

No I don't think so. The I lines are a great idea but hydor is the only one I know of and I would not get another one.

I have an Hydor inline and had read about the possible failure of the thermostat. I now control it with a temp probe, just to make sure. The temp probe is also from Hydor

Keep in mind. There are probably thousands and thousands of people who use this inline heater but you only hear about the few dozen that have had problems. That is pretty good odds I would think as just about every heater is going to fail in some way or fashion in time.

Not bashing hydor. I have a hydor powerhead that I love and works great. I just found the in line heater to be not the greatest quality. Was still shocked when it failed and boiled my tank inhabitants alive
