So I was out at a house party last night and the owner of the house had a fish tank that had been quite neglected. The tank was 1/2 full of this moss growing from just about everything (fake rocks, plastic plants, etc.). The moss was growing completely vertically - 6-8 inches long. So I decided to fish some out and throw it in a bag when I came home.

Now my question is this.. will Java Moss grow vertically in any conditions? Low light/low nutrients? It was very cool, had to grab some. Anyone ever see java moss growing vertically?

I am about to net it do a rock and see what happens in my tank.

I had Javamoss growing vertically in my lowlight tanks. but in my tank with high light it seems to grow horizontally and branch out more.

My wifes "lowlight" tank in her office grows J moss that I would die for... All she does is a 20% water change a week and adds 1 ml of flourish a week !
I love J moss, actually "any" moss in an aquascape and I am adding some to my 75 in hopes that it gets as nice as hers ! Only time will tell...

Its just not fair ! LOL

I hear ya Buck. This guys tank was seriously neglected. Water was way low, two sickly fish in it. Put this moss was so intriguing, so I took some. We will see what happens it my tank.

The thing is when I netting this moss to the rock it was stiff, like it held itself vetical out of the water, so I am hoping it will stay that way.
