I've been considering the purchase of a "HOT" filter in the hopes of clearing some mild cloudiness in my planted tank. The cloudiness has been getting much better, but still have been having trouble, I'm sure due to disturbing the substrate during trimming and plantings (tank is growing so fast I need to trim every week!)
So, I did break down and buy one on sale at our LFS for $60. Really an easy filter to set up and use, and completely portable for when I want to clear up other tanks.
I set up the filter, added a TBS of Diatomaceous Earth, and went to supper. Came home 2 1/2 hours later to an incredibly clear tank!
 Just a note to others that have been considering one....Go For It! It can be used as a maintenance filter too, as well as a polisher.
I sure enjoy the site!
