can u use out door tree branches in a planted fish tank

Speaking from experience here, yes and no;

If they are fresh cut (mine were), you will have issues even if you prepare the b'jesus out of them. I took a few branches off a tree, boiled them, stripped the bark, sanded them down, boiled again, let dry, and boiled.

One did fine, the other had a part of the branch exposed and it caught a white mold (I would not recommend for dsm projects). I think if you have a bit of patience, it is very possible. But I would prepare it, and maybe throw it in a qt tank for a few months just to see what happens.
