I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as "forgiveness" if anyone ever did that to me. Luckily my boyfriend doesn't even kill spiders, so I'm pretty sure I'd never have to worry about anything like that! (Yes, I kill the spiders myself. They are icky.)

We had a gal on another forum ( I forget which... it's been a long time ago) that had that same sort of thing happen, but on a larger scale. The guy bleached every last one of her tanks. She had several large tanks and a few small ones, maybe 7-8 total if I remember right. Dozens of fish and every plant died.

Most of the replies to her story were of a " Well, I guess I'd have to go down for homicide if someone did that to my tanks.", but I cannot fathom how I'd feel if my spouse ( or anyone) did something like that to me.

I'm glad these people live in states that prosecute. Too many states don't give a flip about fish.

man, this happens a lot..
On another forum, a girl from Europe had the same thing happened. And she can't do anything about it. Not even sue the guy.. I'm glad I'm living in the states.

You can't sue anyone for anything. I learned a lot from having that a-hole subtenant live in my house. Smoking pot, breaking things, not paying rent/utilities...not a damn thing could be done. Called the cops 3 times.

Technically, it could be called destruction of property, but if you let someone into your house, then it's a civil matter and you could only take it to small claims court.

That's pretty low of that guy to take it out on helpless fish.

Speaking of fish abuse however, there are people on this forum who set their pressurized CO2 by throttling it way up to the point the fish are all gasping at the surface, then using that as a mark to turn the CO2 down so it's just below that point. One of the people I was talking to that does this said you lose a lot of fish at first but after awhile you learn where to set it and you stop losing fish. I can't imagine being so cruel.
