deeper substrate with smaller particles.

I personally like doing 3 inches of substrate in front, sloping up to about 6 inches at the back. You probably can get away with less, depending on the substrate you're using.

Also, there are plants that don't really need to be planted -- some can be tied to stones or wood like java fern and java moss

I've tried aqua soil, flourite, eco-complete, and regular play sand -- all are pretty easy to plant into, with aqua soil being the easiest.

im using aquasoil but i still find it realy difficult to plant in especialy hc and hm
would it be easier to plant them with an empty tank and do a full water change?
or would this cause stress to its inhabitants?

Your using some tweezers .... forceps or something right? Aquasoil is easy to plant in although its is light. Grab a stem or to with you tweezers and shove into the substrate let some pressure on the tweezers and gently wiggly them back out of the substrate.

HC is a little tougher because of the size of it but aquasoil is the easiest substrate I have ever planted it in.

I would suggest you lower the water level to something that is comfortable for you and the tank inhabitants while planting. Compromise with them because I think they like the option of not having their bellies dragging on the ground.

good luck!

i got mine from someone here in the Swap and shop and have also got them off of ebay for cheap.

Also whene planting you dont have to always plant one stem. I had problems with plants staying until i planted a group of 3-4 all togther and they stayed place better
