Substitute for Sieryu Stone?

Has anyone found a lookalike for this kind of stone? It is really incredibly expensive, even at a discount (see Swap and Shop). I plan on going to a landscaping store to take a look around, but I was just wondering if there was another well known substitute.

Check out some high end pond design companies. They usually have a lot of "oriental pond" looking stone.

Does anyone know what Type of rock this actually is? I cant seem to find anything about it other than its basically called "garden stone" or Azure Dragon stone?

If you can find the type of rock it is the more likely you'll be able to match it.

Fishscale, like dave said, try the pond desigh companies and local landscaping places. There is a place in cali that sells a stone called zebra stone which is the closest thing to the real deal. Good luck!

the stone being sold in the S&S right now is Seiryu stone, but its not ADA Seiryu stone. so whats the difference? ADA actually hand pulls the pieces before they are boxed and sold. the difference in significant. i have a few hundred pounds of the stuff, bought in a similar manner to what is being sold, but its not all "the good stuff". if the pieces are flat, they are almost useless, and ADA doesn't send those stones overseas for sale. ADA stones are hand selected to be triangular-ish.. and in general are of a higher quality than the normal Seiryu stone you can find at a stone yard or pottery store.

your best bet to find the stone or something very similar is at a pottery wholesaler that imports containers directly from China, thats what i did.
