When to run lights?

For my new tank I will be setting up in a few mins, when should I run the lights?

I work 12 hours a day, and my plan is for them to come on around 3pm and go off at around 10pm. I would like to have the lights on so I can enjoy the tank when I get home for the night. Is this a bad idea and lights really should be on during the day? If that the case how would I enjoy tank at night?

That's fine. Just as long as you have a consistent schedule. Mine run 2pm-10pm.

You can run the lights anytime you want to, my main tank runs 4pm-1am do I can see the lights on for a little bit after I get home at 1130
Your plants will think it is daytime when you tell them it's daytime

I also work late so my lights run from 5pm to 2am. It makes the best night light ever!
