Cycling tank

Starting a new tank, used plants from an established tank and floss from the hob filter. Will this tank need to cycle? Can I add fish? Is the bacteria gonna die with no fish...food?

What substrate area you using? If using like ADA amazon, will leech Ammonia. Meaning still need proper cycle. Are you using water from matured tank?

It will cycle in a couple weeks rather than a couple months. You do need to add a source of ammonia. Ammonia chloride drops are easiest and humane. If your using aqua soil like stated above it leeches ammonia and provides an ammonia source already.

I have used API Quick Start which works really good. Allows you to add fish instantly and BB to the tank and filter. Haven't lost a fish when I have used it.

like urbach asked, it would be very helpful to your new tank to use water from the established tank.

Any tank, even with that quick start stuff, needs time to get bacteria colony growing. This is a nice, slow, relaxing hobby, there is no need to rush nor put living fish in danger because everytank needs to cycle. Its not a option, its a fact.
