10G Fish Suggestions....

This tank currently houses only an adult male bristlenose but I'd like to add something with a little more flash. I'd like suggestions keeping the following in mind:

1) Open top.
2) Fair amount of current (AC50).
3) Medium hard water and temp is 75-72.

Let the ideas flow.

Regards,
Robert

you need some more decoration.
Are you going to add plants?

But I think Bright Yellow fish would look good against that blue background.

No plants I can think of at this time. They won't stay in the sand substrate with the bristlenose rooting around. I saw some Gold tetras that looked nice but I'm too sure how they would feel about the open water.

Robert

I know it goes against the namesake of the site, but I really like the dead look of the tank. I have no idea why, but it just looks nice as is.

Well I have plenty of planted tanks... I wanted to try something different.

It may be difficult to find a fish that likes open water and will fit in a 10 gallon.

Robert

I like dwarf rainbows. They've never jumped for me.

Pseudomugil signifer, P. gertrudae, P. connieae, etc....

In college....so no aquariums for a while.....

Mr. B. I will look into the rainbows.

How about an army of ottos. That is quite unique. I am in the process of trying to farm algae to feed the bristlenose so if it works, feeding many ottos would be quite easy.

Robert

How do danio-types fair in open water? How about trying some Celestial Pearl Danios, which will likely be sold as Galaxy Rasboras. Here's a thread with some info on this recently renamed fish ( https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/fi...tive-bred.html ). I know Vinh carries then over at your lfs, though they weren't cheap ($8.99 / fish, if I recall).

And if you do go this route, let me know when you have offspring so I can buy some from you .

Brian,

I don't know if the danios are such a good fit. I would be interested in breeding them but at this point I don't have the room to work them in.

Robert

You could get a couple barbs.

10 gallon.
20 gallon long low light garden.
