Hi, I'm newbie on planted tanks. I have a few questions regarding my red ludwigia. I'm in process of setting up 2 planted tanks. I bought a bunch of plants about 10 days ago. The RL came with the lead weights on the bottom of the stems. I did not remove them and also didn't cut the bottom part of the stems (as advised by many people). I planted them in 2 tanks. In the first tank, the RL grows nicely, showing nice red and green young leaves. In the second tank, the RL grows but showing pale coloring. The new leaves aren't as green as the other tank's and also te stem kind of weak. Both tank use the same water.
These are the somewhat details on both tank :
1. The tank that has nice RL growth has 2 watts/gl PC, Onys sand substrate and tank depth about 16 inches.
2. The tank that has bad RL growth also has 2 watts/gl PC, Flourite substrate and tank depth of 18 inches.
Is is caused by insufficient lighting? or lack of trace elements or fertilizer?
I'm ordering more lights for those tank. They will be about 4 watts/gl. But my concern is that I don't think that's the main problem here because all other plants are doing great (even the ones those require high lighting).
