Should I cut the leaf?

My tank is relatively new just past 3 weeks.
There are some diatom growth on the leaves of my plants but is starting to become less.
My questions is, some leaves seemed to be weakened by the diatom during the pass 2 weeks.

Should I cut all leaves that appeared weak and covered by algae and have holes?

My opinion (and what I do) is if you have enough leaves, cut it. If the plant is so new that it's still very small, and cutting could be detrimental- leave it. But when leaves are weakened- they can't regenerate. Unlike animals plants can only replace- they can't restore. So damaged leaves should always be cut to allow the strength to be put into new growth.
