Cholla WOod

I got some cholla wood not too long ago, I cut it in half and pour some boiling water on it. However when I put it in the tank, I see these worms coming out of it and some small pepper size bugs. Does any know what what this is and will it harm my shrimp tank? The worms are flat and white.

since they are flat, maybe some sort of planaria? do they have pointy heads?

anyways, I doubt much will be harmful, stuff living in dry cholla wood (er, it was dry, wasn't it?) probably can't deal with a fully aquatic environment (probably why they are coming out of the wood).

Can't you take it back out and boil it for half an hour?

Just to be extra sure it couldn't hurt to also freeze it overnight.

Are you sure the bugs are alive? I cant imagine anything living after being boiled for 45 minutes.

Weird, since it's a cactus maybe you can search for cactus bugs, and figure it out lol

I'm not into the image, but into the hobby...
