Diatom Filter or Sock Filter?

Hi - I have seen that Diatom Filters do down to 1 MU... I have seen Sock filters do the same.

Why is a Daitom Filter better?

Yes - Under the water - They do down to 1 micron as do the Diatom filters... Socks are 7" Diam by 48" long....
