Lighting Cycles

I was wondering if instead of lighting my tank for one long block of time (lets say 12 hours) if I could have four three-hour blocks of lighting.

Right now I don't inject any kind of oxygen into the tank, and I'm worried that levels might get too low for my fish before the lights cut back on.

Wouldn't the shorter cycles of lighting keep a more consistent level of oxygen and co2 in the tank, and further hamper algae growth?

Nobody injects O2 into their tank. You can get a pump and use an airstone at night if you're worried about O2 levels. Use an automatic timer to have it switch on and off at whatever times you want.

I would not say nobody. There are some that do inject O2 into tanks. I believe Tom does it on the 1600 gallon tank build. But yeah all you would really need to do is get a airstone and pump if you were concerned.

Well inject isn't the word I should have used, I ment to say I don't add oxygen in anyway (such as through an airstone), but what I'd like to know is if multiple short light cycles would work like that, or if there is some drawback I don't know about.
