CO2 Reactor/Filter?

I was going to make a Barr Internal Venturi CO2 Reactor for my twenty gallon aquarium, currently I am feeding my DIY CO2 directly into the intake of my HOB. My question is when I build my Barr Internal Venturi CO2 Reactor and I put a foam prefilter on it, could I just remove my HOB? All I have in my HOB right now is a sponge and it seems to work ok. But my HOB is starting to fail and I am wondering if I can simply use my reactor as a filter, or if I should also replace the filter too.

What size of power head should I use for the reactor? I read 130 gph is a good size, any suggestions?

BTW What is everyones personal filter choice for a twenty gallon planted tank?

You could use a sponge filter exclusively, but in a planted tank, you might find that the accumulation a mulm unacceptably high. I run a Fluval 204 in my 20 gallon. An XP1 would be a better choice. I find the water circulation in my 20 gallon is rather poor and will likely add a powerhead soon.
