now im currently dosing with flourish and it has iron and potassium in it. Do i need to add extra iron and K? im still trying to get my hagen nitrate test to work so dont ask me what it is  my Phosphates are 1.0. If i were to buy the flourish iron should i just follow the directions or what other method should i use to dose properly. Pls keep it simple because my brain tries to shut off when chemical equations are thrust in it. ops:

What size tank. What else do you dose and how often. I have a twenty gallon, medium light, and dose 4 mL flourish 2x a week. I dose 2 mL once in the middle of the week.

Regular Flourish should be fine for you. I would only dose the Flourish Iron or Flourish K specifically if I saw those particular deficiencies even after dosing regular Flourish (brittle stems - iron chlorosis, or pinholed leaves - potassium deficiency).

most people are not deficient in iron...and from what I've read, most people end up having too much. Iron is a trace nutrient, not a macro. Worry more about potassium, but realize that 1mL of Flourish potassium raises 10gallon of water's level by 1ppm. You'll go through that $7 bottle in a few months, easily..and after that, look into a dry potassium source.

Actually the $7 bottle of Seachem Potassium might not even fully treat the 125 gallon tank. You would need 125 ml to get 10 ppm in that tank.

Also how much light do you have over the tank and what kinds of plants?

One bottle of seachem potassium lasted me a month for my 29 gallon tank. I now use potassium sulfate, much easier and much less costly in the long run.

Are his eyes brown? They must be because his colon is backed up and he's full of natural fertilizer.

It could be true, in a very specific case, where "everything is right" except for a severe lack of trace elements. Then, adding Flourish might be giving plants a great boost, resulting in a reduction of algae.

But most likely that wasn't what the manager had in mind. If it was true, I would not have algae in my tanks. If it was that easy, everyone would just have a bottle of magic flourish, and the "Algae" section would not exist.

Flourish is great stuff IMO, makes dosing of traces very convenient. But it is not - directly - an algae killer.
