this is a two part question


1. is pmdd what they say it is and how come they dont have for iron


2. what do you use for the substrante the pmdd is not going to help this


i am trying to reduce cost when comes to fert. but i have mostly rooted plants like corkscrew etc.

What do they say it is? PMDD is a dosing solution to replace commercial ferts. It contains iron. You can use whatever substrate you want. There are several threads here that cover PMDD. If you want a cheap source of iron get some iron chelate and mix up your own solution.

not too much more to say, Rex gave most info needed.

1. It's a DIY fert mix. One of it's components IS Iron (unless you've found an odd recipe). The initial trace minerals mix (Usually Plantex CSM or CSM+B) contains the Iron.

2. Use a good plant substrate, and if you need, add in fert-tabs.

The DIY pmdd setup is usually quite cheaper than anything commercial.
