Whats the secret? I know my tank is fairly new (~ 3 weeks) but my plants are covered in brown hair alage. It's growing almost 3/4 way up my tank. I only have 3 micro swords and a few tetras, but the alage is invading my plants.

I only have 2 test kits right now so don't ask my exact water parameters. PH is 7.0 and Ammonia is trace (almost none).

Anything I can do or do I just need to ride it out?

Thanks

Give your tank time to establish.

My farowella catfish actually eats hair algae.

I had some that covered a big rock and when I put him in the tank, in three days the brown hair algae was gone.

Micro Sword was the worst plant to start with, it is high maintenance, and a slow grower, and will collect algae.
You need alot of fast growing plants and some more test kits to get your water in balance. tank should be cycled and balanced before trying M.Sword
