Is plantex a good addition for fertilizing? I'm placing an order right now. Anybody out there use it? I'm just a little unsure as to what it is.

You might find a few people that argue it has a little too much of this or not enough of that, but overall it's one of the most economical choices out there. A weekly 50% water change is going to make sure nothing builds up to excess levels. I'm using it, and it's every bit as good as Flourish, at a fraction of the price.

So you dose your tank with it only after a large water changes.
What exactly is it. I purchased some of it for 8 bucks. Wasn't sure, didn't think it could hurt. Is it more so trace elements that you mix then dose?

It's a trace mix just like Seachem Flourish.
You dose it just like any trace element mix - after water changes and even periodically if the plants show the need.

Aaah ha.

I dose Kent weekly but haven't really seen that big of a difference. I don't have any test kits for the trace elements so I don't know if I dose enough of it. I follow the instructions on the back but dont' know how much I need to add exactly.

I'll try the plantex and see what happens.

I'll do it slowly though....Anyway, got to go. Thanks for the feed back.

I mix 2tbs of plantex + boron into 500mL and dose 1mL per 10g 3x per week. I do have high light tanks, so ymmv.

It works well for me and I have been using it for about 9 months or so.

The general starting guidline is more like 1ml per 20g, once a week with a 2tbs/500ml mix. But with high light and pressurized CO2, 3x a week might well be necessary. I probably need to start dosing mine a bit more often!
