Diffuser question???

I have pressurized CO2. The red sea pro system. The "reactor 500" doesn't seem to be doing a very good job at getting the CO2 into the tank and dissolving it correctly. Also it makes a funny pssss noise about every minute which pisses me off at night. Would you suggest i just put a diffuser onto this? If you would what kind??? (NOT ADA) too expensive.

Epicfish sells the Rhinox diffuser which would work for what you are trying to accomplish or you can get one off of ebay.

What type of filter do you have? There are a couple DIY reactors in the DIY area (one by diablocanine for instance) RexGrigg has one on his site, and you can also just run the CO2 line into the intake of an eheim filter if you have one. The filter will act as your reactor.

I have a penguin 30 filter on there. Its only a 10 gallon so canister is out of the question. I just ordered a diffuser off ebay for 5.00 so we will see how it works when it comes in. Ill take some before and after pictures of it.

No way to tell. Use a drop checker.

I used a bubble ladder in my 40 gallon and it was working just fine. Have you considered that?

Start at 1-2 BPS and go up from there. If your kH is 6 or less I would only run the CO2 when lights are on. That would save you any noise at night.

Robert

Ya i only run the CO2 when the lights are on. It saves a lot of CO2 for me. I have had this tank for about 3 months now and its only dropped 100 psi. ... I am doing 1 BPS right now and the plants are growing like crazy.
