Talk about luck! I was at my local Petco today on my lunch break returing an unused kritter keeper light from my betta tank. I happened to browse through the aquatics section and here is what I found...
-- Fresh shipment of African water ferns for 1.50 each
-- Glolight tetras for 99 cents (gonna get me 8 new ones)
-- True siamese algea eaters (1 left)

So tonight after work I am going on a shopping spree using the money from that returned light (suckers are expensive)

its all about being there at the right time.

My local petco has begun stocking some decent plants as well... Of course, they're covered in snails and algae, but the prices are decent ($1.99 for java fern isn't so shabby). Of course, they still have a bunch of bog plants as well... but at least they're improving.

Well I have hit the jackpot again at Petco. Was in there looking for parakeets for my wife and found a tank full of german blue rams for 6.49 each, picked out two very nice ones for my 25 and they seem to be aclimating well. Will have pictures soon.
