C02 tank readings/regulator

Hi all,
Have a 10# tank, first fill up gauge reads 1100 psi.Bought a Red Sea regulator. After 6 months gauge reads 800 psi. Figured it was time,so I unhooked it and bled off the remainder to take it to get it re-filled-was hardly anything left in it.Had it refilled -took it home and hooked it up- reads 800psi.?took it back to tell them it can't be full-it should read 1100 psi when full. he told me (after weighing it) that it is actually over full by a pound. Now it is reading 850psi. Thinking my Red Sea regulator could be faulty or not repeating- I bought a JBJ unit on-line from Marine Depot. Comes today. So I am not sure what to think-could be ambient room temps? I never really liked the Red Sea anyway -got the first one and to put on the Solenoid you have to remove the barb fitting on the regulator with a "gripping tool" No way will it come off- Red Sea says "it was a fluke" after destroying the regulator to get it off they sent me a new unit ( I of course have to pay for next day shipping- no C02 in my tank would be algae central in 1 week. so the new one came and the barb came off with my hand... Looking forward to the JBJ unit.... Will still keep the Red Sea for back-up ....maybe. Curious to see what the JBJ tank pressure guage reads.....

Well I'm not sure about the regulator, not getting similar readings in similar conditions does sound suspicious, although you are correct in your assertion that temperature affects pressure readings to a fairly high degree.

Thanks Rex, I already did. That's what I was thinking, but I do think it is a crappy gauge, we will see what the JBJ says.

Well got the JBJ regulator, and did not like the barb fitting at the top of the bubble counter ( I have a ton of Clippard fittings and tubing at my disposal where I work) I have been using Freelin-Wade PUR 4mm I.D.x 6mm O.D. tubing as it is the right material for C02 and it seems to be the only thing I can find to fit the barbs, Took off the o-ring on the barb at the top of the bubble counter, and put the tubing on and tightened the nut-pulled right off. So I teflon taped the threads and put a 1/8 npt female brass barb on. fixed. We have a item here called Snoop which is a leak detective fluid ( snaked a little bottle of it to take home ) when you put it on fittings if there is any leak at all it foams up like an Alka-seltzer. So we will check it tonight to look for leaks.
