Mineral oil in my tank!

I was using mineral oil in my bubble counter and it was working fine till I cranked the Co2 up a little. Apparently some was pushed out of the tube and now the surface of the water has a film of oil on it. Any ideas on how to remove it?

Paper towel on top of the surface, or a bottle or cup submerged under it and taking the film off the top of the water... Works great for surface films as well.

I know Rex recommends Beer bottles

It shouldn't bother the fish or plants should it? I am at work right now and won't be able to clean it up till I get home....

Mineral spirits are actually pretty nasty, hydrogen peroxide can help break up most petroleum byproducts, although i would just try to physically remove it and then do water changes. You should be ok.

Mineral spirits is a type of paint thinner, Mineral oil is an intestinal lubricant used for constipation(or bubble counter fluid, lol). I think I might just ditch the bubble counter or make a ghetto one....

just do a waterchange and use your gravel vac to skim the surface and suck it all up
