Is this Algae or Mold? Help!

Im in the midst of cycling my tank.
Fishless
20gallons
plants glossos and rotalas
ammonia: 1ppm
nitrites: 0
nitrates: 0
pumping c02
been dosing DIY EI fertilizers

I've recently been doing too many water changes and have taken out too much ammonia leeching from the ada soil. So i dumped some fish food in there and they have been molding at the bottom. Ive done so for 2 days in a row now

Now all of a sudden on the left side of my tank i see a bunch of my glosso's turning tan and some kind of white hair is growing on it (see photos). On the left side is where all the fish food rotting. I notice the white hair like fibers are on the plants where there are more fish food lying on top of or near...

Is this algae? is this caused by the excess amount of fish food sitting at the bottom molding on the left side of the tank?

I feel like i just lost my algae v-card and would like to know, what's the best way to get rid of this before it grows out of control?

Perhaps a water change?

YOUR HELP is much appreciated in identifying this before I freak out even more.

Not totally sure, but if you made me guess, I say the last pic looks like algae. Dosing EI but have 0 nitrate? That could be part of the problem.......I see you're cycling still, but are you planning on dosing kno3?

Not a good idea to dose kno3?

Ill pull it out of the equation. I was told I could dose normally while cycling to help get the plants settled.

Do you think a water change could control the situation?

No it's a great idea (after cycling at least)....I was wondering how your nitrates are 0 if you're dosing kno3?

More opinions about dosing and cycling are needed here

It looks like dead hair algea (because of color). Is it spreading ? How does it act characteristically ?

You should be able to readily siphon it out - do that.

its white, very thin thin almost invisble strands....

i really notice it whereever there is fish food rotting near by or on the plant...the fish food itself also has a white mold around it. but whereever this white hair is drifting is zapping the life out of the plant its grown on - the plant is turning brown wherever this white strand is growing on .

It's likely being caused by the decomposing fish food you've put in the tank - siphon it out to clean things up & protect your plants from being affected by the mould.
