Strange things happen in the night

This is what I woke up to this morning. Any ideas as to what could have caused this? I will be checking the water params in a moment and doing a very large water change. I'm wondering if it is just time for a new filter as this happened a couple weeks ago as well? Let me know if you guys have any thoughts. I will put more specific water measures on soon. Thanks

Could guess all day, but need more info....

It's CO2. See-Oh-Two. Not C02 (see-zero-two).

That must be the problem because my water seems pretty good.
pH - 5.5
NO2 - 0.3mg/l
KH - 5
NH3 - 0

Well that was dumb, hmmm, I'll have to tweak my mix amount.

I'm not sure what you mean? I used my Tetratest kit and the color was about half way between the 5.0 and 6.0 so I figured its about 5.5. The pH is so low because of all the CO2 in the tank from my mistake.

The tank is looking much better now! Will be doing another water change tomorrow and another run of tests.

I wasn't aware of the tetra test kit. The API test only measures down to 6.
