Need help to identify

I was told that this is normal on newly introduced driftwood.
I had this manzanita driftwood out of water for over 2 years and redid my tank and put it in with a ton of JAVA MOSS attached.
It started as a white fuzz and then looked like cotton balls and now its brown.

Today I added 3 corys--3 otos--3 plecos and 3 amano shrimp from what I read on other post about this.

Will this go away over time or should I worry???

Hi I have the same issue (I think?). Got a branch from the LFS and they said it was ok to go right in the tank. A few days later white growth..not as cotton like as yours but still white and scary looking! I put two nerite snails in and they are eating it up. I just want to make sure it will be safe to add fish to this tank now? thanks!!

I noticed the other thread was in NJ so added this to the general as well.

Put my wood in last week and the slime has disappeared. I have otos and amanos in my tank. They seemed to munch on it.
