hey im new

one of my close friends uses this site and he said i should get help with my tank and such.
this is my 10G planted tank i'm using flourite for the substrate and i dose fertilizers regularly.
but i keep getting this brown dust in my aquarium i don't know whats causing is

Did you wash the Flourite? It may be just the dust from the flourite.

Is the dust floating around the water or is it sticking to the sides of the tank, plants and rocks? If it is floating in the water it is likely dust from the flourite. That substrate requires considerable rinsing and even then it gets dusty when disturbed. If the brown dust is stuck to things it is brown algae.

ive had it for a few months now and it shouldnt be creating the dust anymore.

Is it sticking to the glass like Shady said? If so it is probably Diatoms. In his pic it looks like dust floating though.

Have you disturbed it recently(wc/gravel vac/adding new plants). I have to stick with it being dust from the flourite.

The "dust" is only present on the plants and rocks, not on the glass. I was the one who helped her set this tank up.
