Dry Start Method - MGOCPM vs Vigoro

Alright for those that followed my threads " Screening Miracle Grow" and "Miracle Grow Organic Competitor" this is sort of like Part II of both. If you haven't read them, go check'em out.
https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=411594

In a nutshell a few good points came up. One question I had was can you DSM MGOCPM. Considering I wanted to do a growout tank on my up and coming 125g setup with this soil, I was too eager to know the answer so I am putting it to the test now.

*Edit - (Adjusted the startup temp) I went ahead and put two of my empty 10g tanks into service to test the waters. The setups are in my garage and the avg temps are mid to high 90s during the day. Hopefully this won't effect too much but at least the outside temps here in Texas are below the 100s now.

Thanks to Hoppy I was able to setup these tanks with his Hoppymeter that I recently acquired. The tank setups are:
Tank A
Miracle Grow Organic Choice Potting Mix
Petsmart Dwarf Hairgrass 1pk
23w CFL EcoSmart daylight 1600 lumens
Light Distance above Substrate -14"
Home Depot Work Lighting 7am-1pm (to start)
Par Reading - 71 @ center,29 in rear,24 in front

Tank B
Vigoro Organic Potting Mix
Petsmart Dwarf Hairgrass 1pk
23w CFL EcoSmart daylight 1600 lumens
Light Distance above Substrate -14"
Home Depot Work Lighting 7am-1pm (to start)
Par Reading - 72 @ center, 29 in rear, 22 in front

I set the lights up the best I could to have them mimic each other.

I will try to do weekly updates with this to show the progress or the failure.

Well today makes a whole week since I setup these two tanks. There isn't much going on after only a week but all planted plugs are surviving in my hot box. There are a few plugs that have started some extra growth but I doubt my camera would pick that up if I posted today.

The only difference between the two soils that I have noticed is that the Vigoro absorbed the water more and the MGOCPM did start to develop some white branchy mold on the surface. It was only pea size and only in 4-5 areas where it started but it has not spread.

I will post side by side pics another week from today. Hopefully there is more noticeable growth kicking in by then.

Well come tomorrow evening it will make 4 weeks since I started this experiment. I figured since its on my mind, that I will go ahead and update the pics.

Tank A. This one is out performing the other so far. The routine is the same for both tanks.

Tank B. This one started out stronger but has not progressed as well as its competitor.

The temps have dropped and averaging low to mid 80s during the day in my garage and high 70s by night. We shall see if that helps the plants kick in more. Although the pics don't reveal much, Tank A has ran a few runners that the camera isn't picking up well. The below pics are side pic. The glass is a bit dirty due to me misting but you get a fell on what growth is going on.

Tank A

Tank B

The light is the strongest in the middle obliviously so that is where it looks like my focus for this experiment will be. The very back and the very front have sort of melted away due to the lower PAR. They are not completely dead, just very faint.
