Do you run HOB filter with canister?

I have a 125 gallon with Eheim 2080. Do I have enough mechanical filtration? Do you run HOB with canister? I have an old Penguin 330 without the wheels.

I run 2 HOB + canister on my 55g. One HOB is dedicated to surface skimming.

It's CO2. See-Oh-Two. Not C02 (see-zero-two).

One Emperor 400 and one Eheim 2217. The canister filter is for my CO2 reactor. That's about it. The Emperor is mainly for both mechanical and biological filtration. I never use their cartridges. I just stuff some cotton filter flossing inside their own cartridges.

I do on my turtle tank.. I keep carbon in the HOB for odor and I keep sponge and cermedia in my canister for mechanical and biological... I never use carbon in a canister. It has to be changed more often than what I clean my canisters. I have two razorback turtles in a 40B. Without the carbon HOB my whole bedroom smells like a turtle tank. IMO HOB's don't hold enough media to be good for anything other than carbon. Even with cermedia, you'll have a hard time getting enough surface area for bio.

I have run all sorts of combos.
I aim for about 10x tank volume per hour, and this is combined filter and power head.

If you are having to clean the filter more often than you want, then another filter might help. At least there will be another set of media to trap debris.
