Ever a timeline to change substrate?

Just wondering. Tank has been up for over 1 year. Do you ever change the substrate to refresh it? or leave it alone?

I just leave it alone, the substrate doesn't wear out. I think the substrate gets more seasoned and filled with more nutrients over a period of time.

probably best to leave it alone.
you can always jazz it up with;
First Layer Pure Laterite and
or Seachem Flourish Tabs

Do you just push the laterite into the substrate like with root tabs? Wouldn't that cause a big mess?

I dumped two bags of Eco-Complete on top of my 3 year old substrate (75G). I definately think it added a boost.
