I have made a school boy error !

I have a new tank with a complete substrate of 1inch beneath 1 1/2 inch gravel and then another 1/2 inch sand. I have graded this so the height at the rear of the tank is a total of 4inch dropping to 2inch at the front.

Will the plant roots reach this far through the sand and gravels ?

I'll try to add a photo.

They'll reach farther than 4-2 inches. A lot farther. In fact, they will reach so far that they'll curve once they reach the bottom of the tank and root sideways...
