What are your biggest planted tank regrets

So not so much what would you do differently such as...
- I wish I would have gotten the AC 70 instead of the AC50
- I wish I would have bought 12 tetras instead of 6

But what do you wish you had never done

For me...
1. adding all theose darn snails. mts, pond, ramshorn. I have three literal snail farms
2. duckweed. Just put it in my tank Tues, already hate the stuff, enough said.

20L My Other Tank: OEBT Shrimp
40B Inlaws Tank: 2 goldfish
75 Main Tank w/ sump: 5 Glossolepis pseudoincisus, 5 Melanotaenia boesemani, 10 Melanotaenia praecox, 5 Melanotaenia lacustris, some cories, a bn pleco and rainbow fish fry

Spending money on marineland led day/night bio wheel tanks. Bought them when I first started out cause they looked cool. Had no idea and they are horrible noisy impractical tanks.

Wait.. I take that back.. Worse than that was letting my wife talk me into the fluval chi. :-/

55 gal heavy planted low tech south American tank
38 gal bow front live bearer tank
20 gal Marineland led brackish puffer tank
14 gal cf newly planted
10 gal Marineland led low tech low light
10 gal Marineland led qt tank
6 gal snail breeder
5 gal fluval chi dust collector
3 gal beta tank

Duckweed has to be up there for me too...it took over my very first planted tank.

I wish I would have left things be with my low tech setup, same tank as above. It was going well and then I decided I needed more light without considering whether I could keep up with ferts and CO2. Ended up being more trouble than it was worth.

Years ago, I grabbed some plants from a river and stuck them in my tank. The plants died and so did all my fish..

My biggest is probably that in the beginning, with my first few setups, I spent more time obsessing on equipment choices and stuff like that than the actual scape and what goes in the tank. I've since learned that you build a tank from the inside out.

EDIT: one more... using Fluval Shrimp Stratum in my work tank instead of Aquasoil. I keep thinking I should redo it, but it's so much work.

Completely emptying out my tank of eco complete, to do a much easier, more pleasant looking tank with plain gravel and root tabs. Sadly after that I had no plant growth what so ever.

I regret buying panda cories without doing enough research. Within 2 months, all 10 were gone.

I don't regret the expense ($85) so much as feeling like a dumb little kid who carelessly slaughters a carnival goldfish.

Well, I am hoping to redeem myself with my next tank, and give another small school of them a chance.

Getting into this at all.

Imagine what I could be doing with all the free time I would have if I wasn't into tanks! Imagine the beer and football games I could intake!
