Are these Daphnia?

I went down to the neighborhood stream/cesspool/mosquito mecca to try to find some daphnia to culture. I got about a million mosquito larvae and a few of what look king of like daphnia but they have little tails like some kind of shrimp so I am not sure if they are or not. If anyone could tell me for sure, I would appreciate it.

Also caught this little guy. Thinking I might see how he does in the tank.

A lot of salamanders need special care and cooling, hibernation, and so on. I would put him back...

Hope you have some fish to feed them to

Other than the salamander/newt, all you have in your bowl is the dreaded mosquito in different stages.

I agree with the salamander/newt recommendation. Those things are sensitive & generally will starve if they don't like the limited amount of NON-LIVE food you offer them in a tank.

But before you return him to the cesspool, try to take some better photos of him & post them here.

Dammit. Looks like they'll be pupa gladiators then. The Angel fish should enjoy them.

I'll let the salamander go tomorrow.
