I'm a pappa

Congrats to me!!!
My Pseudotropheus acei have spawned. I noticed about a week ago that the smaller of the two looked like it had a double chin. Figuring that they were spawning I was excited. 5 days later still not seeing any fry, I figured they either got eaten or the eggs were not fertilized.

Well after getting a red jewel and putting him in the tank on of my other cichlids went freakin' NUTS. I had to remove him, so out came a lot of rock. While moving the rock two little fry dashed out!!!

I captured them and took them to a friends house where he has a tank with two mollies, and rocks for them to hide in. Hopefully they will fare better in there than with the other monsters in my tank. I did get the beast out and put him in my friends other tank with larger cichlids thatn him. He turned dark real quick and headed for the rock coves. He is no longer the boss!!!!

By the way would the Pseudotropheus acei do well in a planted tank along with a few Labidochromis caeruleus (yellow labs). Seeing that I have a mated pair I thought about breeding them in the planted tank I'm setting up.

Well I won't be able to get pics of this batch as only two were left and they went to another home.

I think the lady's moputh is getting big again so we'll see if I can catch them in the act this time and get pics.
