Cold water tank

Ok - I have a 58 gallon tank that is in need of a makeover.

Lighting right now is low -- had crypts and anubias alive but not much

Currently just over a year old - hubby crashed it when he filled it with very warm untreated water ... Thinking I had treated it. Killed most of the fish - moved survivors out after that and it's been holding till last week I was replanting my 150 and he yanked the plants from this tank for the 150. However he didn't know it was a dirt tank. (Organic miracle grow with 1 inch black diamond cap) so now there are uncapped mixed places - what should I do? Scratch it and start over or?

Also can you recommend a fun cold water fish? Hubby keeps the room very cold at night...

I tried Discus -- hence the need the cold water fish now for this tank! It started as a grow out - then when I switched to aged water it's too far from storage so I decided to dirt it. And then it had rams in it till it crashed, they were doing great. But the heater still has to work a lot -

So taking recommendations for a 58 gallon oceanic tank in cold bedroom....

I could upgrade the light some ... But no high tech tank wanted here... This is my relaxing watching tank when stuck in bed. Not my constant tinker tank...

Nicole

The only recommendation is have is to keep him away from the fish tanks.

Give him his own to mess around with.

you could try sticklebacks, some barbs like gold barbs, rosy barbs, green barbs. buenos aires tetras do ok down to about 65 degrees. zebra danios and pearl danios can also take fairly cold temps. all the stuff coldwater king said too.. i know there are other loaches as well but i cant think of the names.
