Leaky tank... Let's take a vote!

Soo my ten gallon, a month old, is leaking from the seam. crap!

So what do you think? Repair or upgrade to a 20 gallon? How much are 20 gallons anyways? 20 bucks?

I'm concerned about my light. is 65 watts gonna be enough for a 24 gallon tall? I believe the talls have the same footprint as a ten except..taller.

may be a little shy of what you want, only because of the height, IMO

I dunno, 65 seems like it would be plenty for a 20. Unless you're going pressurized, you wouldn't want more than that i would think. But yeah, upgrade, tanks are cheap.

If the tank is that new you should be able to return it. I think the "tall 10" is ~15 gal. I was not so happy with my 15 gal as the footprint was limiting.

Moved to Tucson.

I do indeed have pressurized.

I painted the tank back and sides black so I can't return it. C'est la vie!

How much are they? 40 bucks?

The 20 "xh" is the same footprint as the 10. It's a really, really weird shape. There is also the 15 "h", gives you a bit more hight without being oddly disproportionate.
The nonstandard sizes do seem to be more expensive.
I vote you get a 29, or maybe a 75

I have a 20H. And 65 Watts of PC. Plenty of light. BTW, I have pressurized. I actually raised my light up off the glass with legs to distribute the light more evenly and still didn't have any problems.

sounds like a plan guys! I'll go pick up a new one tomorrow.

One more question. does the 20 high have the SAME footprint, or is it 4 inches longer? Is one that's 4 inches longer a 20 "long"? even though it's also taller?

What about a 29 gallon? Has the height and a good footprint?

The 29gal (and 20Long and 38H) have a footprint of 30"X12" and the OP's light is 24". It can work,* but tanks 24X12" (20gal, 15Long) and 36" are easier to light with existing fixtures.

*If you are using multiple short bulbs or spiral PC a 29gal is fine. YMMV.

Moved to Tucson.

I like my 20H (not 20L not 20 Extra H) the footprint is great for plants IMO. I have a 64 watt light on legs and it's just about perfect. I would go with that unless you want to get a new light and a 29 gallon. Theya re usualy a little more than $20. Probably $30-40
