Question about aquarium stands

So generally aquarium stands, if it's meant for one tank, but if you have another tank that's bigger but with the same footprint, it will still hold, right?

Well I'm just curious because I got this brooklyn 40 breeder stand from petco recently, and it's the same footprint as a 50 gallon tall, and a 65 gallon, so I was wondering if it would actually be strong enough to hold it them?

Generally it should work about the same. The stand I have for my 55 I originally bought for a 40 long but have also had a 70 on it as well. Have never had any issues. As long as it's made to hold a tank, and not shoddy aluminum or something, you should be ok. Could always just have a couple people stand on it to test strength. Lol

55 gal heavy planted low tech south American tank
38 gal bow front live bearer tank
20 gal Marineland led brackish puffer tank
14 gal cf newly planted
10 gal Marineland led low tech low light
10 gal Marineland led qt tank
6 gal snail breeder
5 gal fluval chi dust collector
3 gal beta tank

They have a brooklyn stand for a 40 breeder?
I thought the only 3 dimensions they had were:
20.5" L X 10.5" W X 29.5" H
30" L X 12.5" W X 29.5" H
48.5" L X 13.5" W X 29.5" H

I have one for a 29g, and just looked at it, and i'd try to get a real answer from petco before i put a 65g on what you say is a 40g b stand. There's 2 screws per side which basically hold it together, i'd want to find out the load limits on those screws.

Yes they do have a 40g stand. I'm not planning on putting any of these tanks on here any time soon, it'd just be nice to know in case I'd like to upgrade. the 50 I might trust on there, but the 65 might be pushing it though.

You would think logically they would build the stands based on tank dimensions, so a 4ft stand would hold all 4ft tanks but sadly it isn't always the case. Best you could do is call the manufacturer ans ask or take a leap of faith and try it.

It really depends. For example, I would never put a custom 300 gal made to fit inside a 30" X 12" 20g long footprint on a cheap plywood stand made for a 20g long. But I would have no problem putting a 65 on a stand made for a 40b. Unless it was really old and falling apart at the seems.

But the stand he's talking about is a screw together stand, not welded, and a 65g is almost twice the weight of a 40b filled. I'd definitely want to find out first.
