Filter floss @ big box retailers?

Does anyone know if its possible to buy filter floss or similar at a big box retail store like <gasp> Wal-Mart?
I use it in my filters, yes, but I also use it when shipping plants. I'd like to get it as cheap as possible. Any ideas?

What he said. A bag of the stuff should last you awhile.

is the remedy for stupidity.

It's not the size of the tank, but how you use it.

Thank you! I'll check it out. Yeah, I really don't like paying shipping for those kind of items if I don't have to.

I like the big rolls of quilt batting you can find at JoAnn Fabrics or maybe Walmart carries them. I cut out squares to use as disposable media in my Eheim canister.

you guys wanna know what else i 'discovered' works really really well???

heating duct air filters--the micron ones...

yea you can get some that arent treated and you can cut em up and layer them

the only thing is that you have to separate some of the strands a little because they really reduce flow--but they work great, and hold their shape quite well in 'watery' conditions!!

cheers,

Yup. I found some of that Poly-fil stuff (for pillow padding/foam) at Wal-Mart. Got a big bag of it for $1.79 + tax.

I just order mine from Big Al's. I get 20 sq. feet for 10 bucks. I hate fabric stores enough to pay extra for the same thing from Big Al's.

In college....so no aquariums for a while.....
