Propagating Eriocaulon cinereum

I read some info at APC plant finder. Just wondering. My E. cinereum RAOKs look quite healthy now and I would like to try splitting/propagating. It is suggested to cut some of the mother plant off and tease apart. Would one go for a third or less of the plant or what? I don't want to kill the mother as I only have two and its currently my favorite plant.

According to my experiences, plantlets formed after the motherplant sent out flower stalks that look like match sticks. The flowers never bloomed, but wilted away after a long while. It was then when numerous plantlets start to emerge from the mother plant. After that, I just pulled it up and separate out the plantlets with a razor blade. I haven't tried splitting the mother plant without the sideshoots tho. Let me know if it works

Ah, thanks for the info! No plantlets yet. I might wait, for fear of damaging her. If I try prior to little plantlets, I will post. Thanks again Petrus.

Don't split the plant just for the sake of wanting more, only split if you see more than one plant in a cluster, and then the plant has to be ready.
