Thinking about topless

I keep a small (10G) tank at work. One nickle sized angel, three albino cory cats, and one dwarf puffer on snail duty. MGO, capped with mixed gravel. Lots of stem plants. Aquaclear 20, keeping the water clear, a 20" Fugeray keeping it bright. No bubbles and no CO2.

The plants are growing nice and slow, but they are reaching the top. All are cuttings from my large tank at home. I was thinking about taking the top off, but worry about the fish making a jump for it. I had a betta jump once.

I think the puffer, and the angel will be ok, but the cory cats tend to be more excited.

Any advise from those that have let the plants grow past the water line.

Not sure if they will jump. Bettas sure are jumpers. Once the plants cover the surface there is less chance of the fish jumping. Is the tank next to a walkway that might make the fish nervous? Someone suddenly passes by really close...

More evaporation, top off with distilled or RO.

You definitely take a chance with topless, but I do love it. I've only lost maybe 2 fish to jumping. Actually one of those jumped through a crack in the glass top so... Mr. betta has always been fine with no top and the current collection of tetras (embers, silvertip, cardinal, chili rasboras, threadfin rainbows) have all been fine.

With corys, and a angel you'll be fine i'm pretty sure. I havnt heard of corys jumping out before, and a single angel isnt going to be put in a position to where it might jump out unless it's one of those once in a blue moon moments.

I'm not into the image, but into the hobby...
