Black mold on drift wood.
I would post a picture, but I can't find the cord to hook the camera up.
I have a 1-1.5 gallon bowl in a window, using the DSM method for dwarf hair grass. I also have a piece of driftwood that I made from a maple tree in my back yard. It has some java moss tied to it and it has been doing well for the first week.
Lately I've noticed some black and dark green (as well as white) mold on the wood. Should I take it out? Here's what I did to prep it for the tank;
Clip it from tree
cut to size
Boil, peel off bark, boil again, check for more bark
Soak for a week
Scrub with green scouring pad, boil again
I thought that would kill all the spores that could have been in there. So now what? Do I flood the tank, take out the drift wood and rinse it? I would rather not remove it as that would mean re-arranging everything, but if it is for the health of the plants I will.
