Just received marimo's

I just got a pack of 4 Marimo balls. Can I divide these up or are they wrapped around a core of some sort?

Any special care, etc?

Wow. Are those safe? I thought Marimo balls were made of clado algae...

Edit: BTW, I'm not knocking them. They sell them at an LFS and I really like the look of them, I've just avoided them because they sound like trouble...

Late post, but better than never.

They're hollow, but you can split them. It'll take them a while to round out again, but they do round out eventually. You'll just have a demented marimo ball in the meantime. =)
