DSM orange fungus?

Hi guys,

I've been doing dry start method for about a week now and most of the baby tears seems to be growing normally (new roots and leaves)... Maybe a bit slow, but eh..

But today, I've just noticed something that I believe wasn't there before. It looks like some kind of orange fungus, and not the usual web white fungus. It also seems like they're mostly appearing on the dead plants for now. (They looked like orange eggs from far away if you ask me)

Humidity is around 70-90%, not too wet or any standing water. I mist once or twice a day with water from the other tank. I also always leave a small opening in the dsm tank...

.. Would it be wise to bury those things under the substrate? I was removing some of them at first, but now it seems there's too many. (It would be easier to just drop some ada aquasoil over them!)

Worse case scenario, I can just flood the tank before it goes out of control

(It also seems like there were 2 or 3 tiny white insects(?) in the tank which I squished. Hopefully they won't cause too much trouble..)

Any inputs is appreciated..

Are you sure you don't have too much water? It definitely looks like you have an algae problem in addition to some fungus (looks like mushrooms!) growing on the HC.

That's algae? I thought it was the melted leaves of the hc plant.. Like, when it becomes all mushy and stuff ... (That, or I'm not 100% sure, but at the lfs where I bought them, I noticed they had an algae problem in one of their tank.. I guess it could be possible I got some hitchhikers on the hc plants even though they were emersed)

I believe I keep my tank pretty dry, but just damp enough for the plants (to the point where I think I should be misting more, buuut I try to control myself!)

... and now that I have that weird fungus thingy, I guess I should be keeping an eye and see how it goes...

It doesn't look like you have too much water in your aquarium, so I would keep doing whatever regimen you currently have.

However, I would make sure that your aquarium gets sufficient gas exchange to ensure that mold doesn't accumulate.

Mix in a few ml of hydrogen peroxide in your misting bottle, it won't hurt anything except the mold and fungus.

I'll make sure to open the lid for about 15 min every day

I'll definitely check about that in case things go out of control!

Thanks guys
