manzanita wood and ph

Those of you who have used manazanita wood: has it affected your ph?
I want to order a couple of pieces from manzanita.com, but am afraid that it will lower my ph. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks .

I use it. You have to saok it for like a month and clean it daily, then it is cool to put in the tank. It shouldn't affect anything. The tanins should be down considerably after the long soak.

fresh, is it best to get the sandblasted kind (less tannin to diffuse), or the stuff with the red bark still on them?

Def sand blasted. I would recommend only getting sandblasted manzanita with no coatings.

freshnewby, why did u have to soak it for a month? to get the tannis out?
i used to have a piece of driftwood in the tank and even though it didn't leech any tannis, it still affected the ph.
does ur manzanita have no effect on the ph at all?
thank you

You have to soak it for a very long time to get it to even think about sinking. Three weeks is probbaly the least amout of time.
I didn't have any affect on my pH with Manzanita. I don't have regular driftwood in my tank so I cannot speak for that.
