Tom Barr, what is your setup like?

Humor us: inquiring minds want to know(maybe just me)!

1. How many tanks to you have; show vs experimental. How big?
2. how many plant types do you keep?
3. Do you do this at home, or 'work'? Is this in a basement, garage, living room, studio etc...
4. How many hours a day do you spend on tanks and related research, and helping us goofballs on the forums?
5. I wonder what your unused tank equipment pile looks like

What is it like spending a day in your shoes?

The two tanks he brought to the AGA Convention were sure nice. I'd like to know where you got those Tom! I would have bid on them if I thought I could get them home in one piece

Yeah, I'd like to second or third that comment... We are curious to see what YOU personally have, not so much your clients-cuz we've seen your hand at work there!

PS, what got you started in this area? College? Tank as a birthday gift during childhood?

I know he has a "fish room" with several tanks of various types, from high light, high tech to low light, low tech. He has enough tanks to do controlled testing with tanks equal in every way except for the thing he is testing. In other words, he isn't like me, with a single tank in my dining area of my condo.

What is it like spending a day in your shoes?
1. Personally 7, 1.5 gal to 20 gal right now, soon to change.
Client's: several, 6,000,000 gallon lakes etc, to 300 gallon.
Work/lab: millions, some cases billions, to 2 gal, mostly 300 gallon coffins.

2. Not sure, that changes often, mostly about 20-30 these days down from a 70-100 high

3. See above

4. None to about 2-3, depends

5. I have a small un used equipment pile, I am not a pack rat. I give donate , auction etc stuff off.

I do have wood, rock etc out the ying yang.

Why do you ask?

Regards,
Tom Barr

I ask cuz you seem to be in the top five or top ten popular aquarist names, and, well, just a little curious... but now you've really got me wondering about the 'lab' ... what is going on in the 6 million gallon tanks, are you using any 5,6, or 7 digit gallon tanks for experiments? -or all for show?

What are you current experiments, what does your 'lab' do.... profit, science, DNR?
