Who Sells TMG?

I was looking around and can't find anyone who sells Tropica Master Grow. Does it have a new name and anyone know of an online source? I want to try it out. TIA - bob

No longer called TMG and at a $20 premium now. Some deal, huh?

I ended up buying a bunch of 2l bottles of Flourish instead since Big Al's had it on sale for $19.99 each...or about the same cost/liter as the old TMG sold for.

In reality, the only reason I switched from Flourish to TMG in the first place was because TMG came in a larger bottle, so I would have to reorder less often. But even back them the per liter price between the 5l TMG and 4l Flourish was nearly the same.

I got my 5L "Plant Nutrition" for 49.99 at BigAls. I am shocked at the new price. I wont be buying it again at its new price 69.99.

Yes I am sure I found the invoice and the 5L is still unopened.

Perhaps we will stop buying this product at this outrageous price and the price will return to normal.

Thanks Bill and Brilliant for the info... Maybe I'll stick with Flourish. I've been using CSM+B for now. Just wanted to try something different.

Apparently, Tropica saw fit to discontinue Tropica Master Grow in favor of a new line called Aquacare as a marketing strategy, which includes a hefty price increase. Here is a copy of the email I sent to their new investor and copied their new director, feel free to plagiarize.

Sir,

I would like to congratulate you in your recent investment in Tropica. Although their plants are not available in the U.S., their products are. I had been a faithful purchaser and user of Tropica Master Grow; it carries a lot of influence in the hobby.

It deserves mention that your recent marketing philosophy to discontinue Tropica Master Grow is unfortunate. I see no remarkable change in the product to warrant the significant price increase so my business will now go to your competitor, Seachem. It would behoove you to monitor the forums associated with planted tanks to witness the displeasure the hobby places in your new found marketing philosophy. I wish you further success and hope your significant investment pays off.

By the way, I currently have 12 planted tanks and am adding 6 more soon, I did use a significant quantity of Tropica Master Grow.

Mr. Lars, I ask you to reconsider and continue marketing Tropica Master Grow as before. I await a response and will forward it to other hobbyists.

Best Regards,

Mark

I received a response from Tropica. They did not understand my issue since the product (TMG) is the same and the price was only increased 3% by them. When I informed them that $69.99-$49.99=$20 which is not 3% more like 30% they responded "I can not tell you more about pricing than I already have. Retailerís decisions in this matter are out of our control, so I would suggest that you contact Big Al for further inquiries." Guess they think I am stupid and do not realize the "price fixing" that goes on between manufacturer and retailer. My 20+ Liters a year will now go to Seachem. At least now when they see U.S. sales decline, they will know why.......DC

Albany Aquarium and myself, perhaps Greg Watson also might get a pallet of TMG in soon.

I spent most of the last 3 days with Ole and Troles and we will see about it.

Actually its not a bad idea to let Big Al know that they have an unwarranted price increase. It could be a mistake on their part and perhaps they will lower it. I'll email them or call today or tomorrow. A few complaints might just do the trick!

In the end it'll be Tropica, not Big Al's, that feels any impact. It would be in Tropica's best interest to inquire into the matter themselves as consumers will just do like I did, and buy a less expensive competitive product.

Big Al's still makes their buck, but Tropica's new product will sit in a warehouse collecting dust.

Well, I'll be getting 108 x 5 liter bottles on each pallet.
I use about 20-30 per year for clients.
Several other folks near here will use another 10, so that's not bad.
I am talking to thr MBA and they will use 20 bottles also per year so a yearly order will very likely happen.

As far as cost, there will not be much mark up other than some shipping cost.
Troels has no issues shipping me a pallet and working with us.

Greg Watson has his own very low mark up fert site so that would be ideal for other folks.
